2011 – TENT Rotterdam
Format: Poster, flyer & exhibition
TENT has already been presenting visual art in Rotterdam for over ten years. Dynamic solo and group exhibitions reveal the many-sided manifestations of contemporary art. In addition to a wide ranging art program, TENT regularly organizes events such as film evenings, discussions and evening openings.
Visual identity ‘Face Value’ shows an unvarnished final result for the exhibition in TENT Rotterdam. Product designer Bertjan Pot, graphic designers 75B, designer Sophie Krier and fashion designer Marga Weimans abandon their commercial bestsellers, winning house style designs or attractive logos and actually show the work in which they seek, hesitate or fail. What is the value of autonomy, authenticity and originality – so characteristic for the work of a visual artist – in the practice of the designer? With photos by Job Janssen & Jan Adriaans.
The visual identity shows an image just before finishing. The designed typeface is placed halfway, from invitation to exhibition text it flaps like a sticker to it’s original form.
The poster has a partial glossy varnish.
